We have been missing last years Pre Schoolers now they are at school. On Wednesday (their pupil free day) many came to visit. The Pre Schoolers we so happy to have them back. They had lots of fun with water in the sandpit and then we all enjoyed a zooper doper (it was very hot!) We will see these children for a few more Wednesdays before they start school full time. Then we will see them again for Pop-up Play and Bush Kinder.

The four year olds were introduced to Drawing Stories on Wednesday. They were excited to start their new scrap books. Drawing Stories are where the children have an opportunity to draw about a topic they know. It is an time when they can demonstrate what they know about a topic. We will do one each week for the year. The scrapbook will become a great record of each child’s development. It will show the development of fine motor skills and awareness as drawings become more recognisable. It will also tell the teachers children’s understandings of topics and help us know which direction to take to further their worldly knowledge.

Humpty Dumpty

Today we did the Nursery Rhyme – Humpty Dumpty. Nursery Rhymes have rhythm and are easy for children to remember. They also have a lesson for the children. I posed the question “Why did Humpty Dumpty fall off the wall?” Here are some suggestions:
Lily – “Because he was being silly.”
Chayse – “Because Lily pushed him.”
Mitchell – “Because he went BOOF”
Mrs Gayle – “Because he was being naughty.”
Mrs Grant – “Because he went to sleep.”
or “Because the wall was too high.”
Some children made walls with the wooden blocks and they used Lily’s teddy as Humpty Dumpty.
