Today is Thursday, and by Thursday we are all getting a little tired from our long week. A sure sign of tireness is when normally very active children drag mats up into the top of the cubby house and lay down! Then they started making ‘people sandwiches’ with a person in between two mats. Then it was double decker people sandwiches! This is a great example of a sensory activity where children were naturally seeking deep pressure through weighted items to ‘calm’ down. The game was only brief but just what we needed to calm our ‘engines’. Thank you to Genevieve Jereb OTR who alterted me to the impact of sensory learning.
Do you remember playing a similar game with siblings and friends when you were young?
