As the children learn about how to play with each other in harmony at the beginning of the year I like to read the story by Pamela Allen called “My Cat Maisie”
This story teaches us that we need to treat others like we want to be treated ourselves.
It asks the question: “How do we expect to be treated?” and “Are we treating other’s this way?”
We have also made a lovely group drawing of cats with blcakliners and watercolours.

Children develop a sense of belonging to groups and communities and an understanding of reciprocal rights and responsibilities necessary for active civic participation:
• gradually learn to ‘read’ the behaviours of others and respond appropriately
Children respond to diversity with respect:
• begin to show concern for others
• listen to others’ ideas and respect different ways of being and doing
Children become aware of fairness:
• begin to think critically about fair and unfair behaviour
