At Pop-up Play today we had fun with tyres. We learnt to roll them because they were too heavy to carry. We rolled them to the hill and had fun rolling them down. This is heavy work and good to help slow down our ‘engines’ after a lot of running around. We also built obstacle courses with the tyres and planks again.
We had morning tea in our box cubbies and box tents today. We found some long grass on the hill and the children loved the sensory experience of lying in it (Long grass is a luxury in Manangatang) Some of the children also rolled down the hill. We went for a walk and found some flowers on the footy oval. We found some paddy melons and talked to the children about how they are a bad weed for farmers and that squashing them will grow lots more of these weeds. We got the children to leave them in a patch together. We found some dirt mounds that were fun to slide down and some old telegraph poles that provided an opportunity for balancing and walking along. Mrs Gayle cooked us a sausage sizzle to add to our lunch. Another great day at Pop-up Play.
